We have now made it to a new year, 2016. What better way to kick it off than altogether with the children. Christmas in Russia and Ukraine comes after New Years, on the 7th of January. So this party was a little combination of both. Normally, in Ukraine or Russia, gifts are given on New Years day instead of Christmas. Christmas is considered to be more of a Religious holiday. We prepared little gift bags for both orphanages we currently support. See more in Gallery for the photos. We thank God and all those who donated in response to our last post regarding Valeria Kudrya. We were able to raise $2,600. We pray that God blesses you, your families, your jobs and your businesses, for your open hearts. We are thankful for all those compassionate towards these orphan children. May God reward you many times over. An apartment has been found. The price we are looking at is $9,000. A down-payment has been placed to reserve it. We still have another two thirds to go to cover the cost of the apartment so anyone else willing to donate can do so by visiting our Donate page. May God place it in your hearts to help us acquire a place that Valeria can call home. A 24 year old young girl, Valeria Kudrya, has been living at an orphanage in Oleksandriya, Ukraine from the age of 15. Her mother passed away and her grandmother refused to take her in. She lived and worked at the orphanage, assisting wherever she was needed. Now the orphanage is forcing her to move out because they need room for other children coming in and she has nowhere to go. The Ukrainian government does not provide any shelter. We would like to assist her in finding a place to live, something like a studio apartment. With remodeling the total price is around 8,000 US dollars. Any donations will be a huge help. May God place it in your hearts to help this girl and reward you for you kindness. Winter preparations have begun. Today it is preserving vegetables. Always nice to have some veggies in the winter. Supply is limited and prices climb in stores so canning is the way to go. See more in Gallery for the photos. Birthdays are meant to be happy occasions, especially for the children. It means lots of good food, games, friends, and you can’t forget the sweets. It is heart warming to see the smiles on their faces. See more in Gallery for the photos. An orphanage we frequent has provided their old building as a shelter for the refugees from the war in Ukraine. We decided to pitch in whatever we can help with for the families in need. See more in Gallery for the photos. One detail that we noticed during our last visit at an orphanage was that fruits are not a common food that was provided. It is almost like a luxury, something you would only eat during a holiday or something of the like. We have begun providing a weekly supply of fruit for the children at this orphanage.
